Fish for Fishies combines my love for claw machines, fishing and pixel art and was an exploration into what can be done with Webflow interactions and Javascript. This project started as an experiment and quickly evolved into a fun little web game I decided to publish and share.
The idea for this game came to me while I was drawing and animating the fisherman on his floating island. I really wanted to create a game based around this character and decided to attempt the build in Webflow.
To create a game with Webflow and bring my artwork to life.
There is a shop the player can access to exchange their points for various items that effect the gameplay. This shop was inspired by the street food vendors found in Japan as well as the exotic food they sell.
There is an expandable inventory tray the player can access by clicking the fish icon in the bottom left of the screen, displaying all the fish caught. Details of each fish species can be revealed on hover.
The player can build a catch combo with successful consecutive catches that multiplies the points rewarded for each catch. This is the key to beating the game quickly as it rapidly increases the score gain.
The Day and night system switches the background of the game and also changes the variety of fish available.
Designer, Artist, Developer
This project was entirely driven by my own curiosity for what game mechanics could be developed within a Webflow site. The artwork was also an exploration into pixel art and basic animation. I discovered some really cool methods for combining Webflow's interactions with custom Javascript throughout this project.
